Buffered or Non-Buffered?

There's been a lot of discussion about whether or not to use buffered(alkaline) material or non-buffered material in different housing situations. When re-reading the rehousing recommendations from the CCAHA, it became more apparent to me how strongly the organization emphasized the use of unbuffered materials in all cases except that of the highly acidic Kalighat paintings. We use several different materials in creating the housing and I was finding it difficult to keep track of which were buffered or non, so I made a little chart and with my supervisor's assistance labeled the characteristics of all the products we use.

A lot of the materials we use are buffered, so we will have to put a barrier of unbuffered material between objects and any buffered material used in the housing.

The plastics are inert, so we don't have to worry about them and they can act as a barrier from the buffered materials.
